Well killed the female some time ago but still have the male. Now near a foot long. He's a "wet pet", fearless and hes always watching you. Great fish to have. If you ever want a lone fish in a tank, that is like having a dog in a tank, get a Midas!

Most pet shops have hybrids true citrinellus or labiatus are very uncommon in shops locally...

Midas.... Seems hard to find these days. Most pet stores only have their cousins Labiatus.... these fish sure were easy to find in the 90's.
So I ordered a group of juveniles from Dan of the Cichlids of the America's. Great guy. I recommend him if anyone is looking for Central or South American Cichlids.

They paired off and spawned at 6 inches. My pair is now proven.
I now have a fresh spawn. Wow can they pump out the fry. Great parents too.
Ill have these fish available soon. If your interested.
