I have participated in probably 10 swaps. Of those 10, only 3 times have I been in the same spot (within 3 tables). I have been all over in both rooms. I find that it doesn't matter the location of where I am at nor what I am selling. The main factor in my success selling what I need to sell is attendance. Some swaps have a lot more people than others. The last few swaps seem to have less buyers and that probably makes it more difficult to sell things.
As far as vendors getting ideal spots, its probably just easier to put people in the same spot as last time since the names and layout stays the same. Less work for the person responsible for putting people at tables.

Scubadiver & Kegger22,

Thanks for your responses. I have seen some vendors get the same table over and over again, could be because they consistently sell on Swap. So there must be a logic, my only question is to publish it with swap announcement and that will be fair.

All vendors are paying the same amount for same square foot so preferential treatment based on any criteria needs to be called out.

I have seen many swaps clearly mentioning the table allocation is random, which will be the easiest way to solve the problem or Pay extra for sought after spots.

I personally would do a 40 long max, but only fill it with 30 to 35 gallons to play it safe

What is the max gallons allowed on a swap table? Would a 40 long or 55 be doable?

I am assuming if the vendor has given talks at our monthly meeting, volunteered at different events and helped out the overall GCCA community that would count for something as well.

My thoughts are to add a $50 option per table to allow a vendor to pick their own table, it would cut down on noise and allow someone who really thinks a certain table is critical to get it.

A Pig and a Chicken are walking down the road. The Chicken says, "Pig, I was thinking we should open a restaurant!". Pig replies, "What would we call it?". The Chicken responds, "How about ham-n-eggs?" The Pig thinks for a moment and says, No thanks. I'd...

Hi GCCA Board Members,

Was wondering how the table numbers are being allocated, I had written to Matt and didn't see a response (he may be busy).

Is it based on First Come - First Served basis or any other logic?

Thanks

Whereas I can't speak for Matt as to how he allocates table numbers but can only speak for myself as I used to do it when I chaired the position, it actually can have some logic such as:

member/non-member
Is the vendor at just about every swap
Did the vendor ask for electricity
What type of things/fish is the vendor bringing to the swap
How many tables has the vendor requested/purchased

Hopefully this has answered your question in full, if not please let me know a bit more in depth what your looking for
